History

Attention to detail, timeless design and expert craftsmanship are the foundations of Hickson Construction. Established in 1979, we’ve spent the last 45 years earning a reputation for our work that boasts both quality and integrity. While custom homes are our specialty, we are licensed as a General Contractor, Roofing Contractor, and offer commercial, residential, renovation and remodeling expertise. 

Mike Hickson, a fourth generation Floridian, spent many wonderful times growing up on his Grandma’s front porch. Reveling in the old, simpler ways of how life used to be, his love for hospitality and connection to the outdoors drew him to an idea for homes with touches that were becoming a dying trend in Florida, particularly in the Volusia County area. 

Growing tired of seeing “flavorless houses” Hickson introduced a new style of homes to the area (which was actually not new at all) but reminiscent of Old Florida traditions and architecture. From this our “Florida Days” series of homes was born, boasting the charm and elegance of wide front porches complete with swings, white picket fences, and metal roofs making this sought after design synonymous with the Hickson Construction aesthetic we’re regarded for today.
